Description nikoo 2013-12-07 19:01:30 UTC
Tried to emerge gnome, but net-libs/webkit-gtk install phase dies with:

Searching for '/webkit2gtk-3.0' requirement 'javascriptcoregtk-3.0'
Looking for package 'javascriptcoregtk-3.0'
Looking for package 'javascriptcoregtk-3.0-uninstalled'
Package javascriptcoregtk-3.0 was not found in the pkg-config search path.
Perhaps you should add the directory containing `javascriptcoregtk-3.0.pc'
to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable
Package 'javascriptcoregtk-3.0', required by '/webkit2gtk-3.0', not found
Traceback (most recent call last):

Exception: /usr/bin/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-pkg-config produced a non-zero return code 1
make[2]: *** [install-data-local] Error 1

Interestingly, os.environ has a PKG_CONFIG_PATH /var/tmp/portage/net-libs/webkit-gtk-2.0.4/work/webkitgtk-2.0.4/Source/JavaScriptCore:/var/tmp/portage/net-libs/webkit-gtk-2.0.4/temp/python2.7/pkgconfig right before /usr/bin/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-pkg-config gets called.

Workaround:
I removed "javascriptcoregtk-3.0" (Line "Requires:") from /var/tmp/portage/net-libs/webkit-gtk-2.0.4/work/webkitgtk-2.0.4/Source/WebKit/gtk/webkitgtk-3.0.pc and /var/tmp/portage/net-libs/webkit-gtk-2.0.4/work/webkitgtk-2.0.4/Source/WebKit2/webkit2gtk-3.0.pc

After that ebuild webkit-gtk-2.0.4.ebuild install qmerge finished without an error.

Having those 2 *.pc-files restored to their original versions, a subsequent install qmerge works ok, so it seems like the lib is not found in the sandbox during the first emerge.

I cannot reproduce this, does it always fail at the same step? Does it fail when installing with emake -j1?
Comment 2 nikoo 2013-12-27 12:46:36 UTC
Yes. It always stopped at the same point. Also, using "j1" did not help.
Maybe the same mess I had later (https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=493564).

Not sure, you could also try with 2.2.4 :/

And 2.2.6
