The Universal 2004.1 x86 live cd is missing stage2 in the stages directory. Here's the current content: esammer@ripley stages $ ls stage1-x86-2004.1.tar.bz2 stage3-pentium3-2004.1.tar.bz2 stage3-athlon-xp-2004.1.tar.bz2 stage3-pentium4-2004.1.tar.bz2 stage3-i686-2004.1.tar.bz2 stage3-x86-2004.1.tar.bz2 There should probably be a stage2 included on the live cd since the documentation refers to it and existing Gentoo users will expect it to be there.
This is intended. We already did it like this for the 2004.0 release. If we would provide the stage2-tarballs, too, we wouldn't have enough space for other things like distfiles etc.
