Description Chris Davies 2004-04-28 14:15:28 UTC
Hi,

I think the bridge-utils package should come with its own init script. After all, who uses a bridge, and _doesn't_ want it to start on boot?

With that in mind, I'm submitting the init script and configuration file which I use on my own network, with permission to modify and redistribute as you wish. It should be generic enough to cater for every possible bridging setup

Perhaps I should also write some sort of gentoo-bridging howto to accompany this?

Thanks,
Chris Davies

Since it now has a bridge init file from a previoud bug report do you think it still needs your version of init? The main differences I see is that your init sets up both the bridge and the ips info on the bridge, whereas the current one just creates bridges. I'm inclined to leave it as it is so all the ip config work can continue in the net init script that gentoo uses and the bridge init does just that. But I want your opinion.
