Created attachment 30285 [details, diff] resolve build error against old live.com libraries when building mplayer and an old live.com package is present the build fails. This is a workaround who permits to build it, but it will be better to add a dependence on more recent live.com libraries, maybe a use flag ?
Regression: This version of mplayer doesn't play nice with alsa9 output. And I can't understand most of the output: I don't know if internationalisation has screwed up, but I got the following: MPlayer 1.0pre4-3.3.3 (C) 2000-2004 MPlayer Team CPU: Advanced Micro Devices Athlon MP/XP Thoroughbred 2172 MHz (Family: 6, Stepping: 1) Detected cache-line size is 64 bytes CPUflags: MMX: 1 MMX2: 1 3DNow: 1 3DNow2: 1 SSE: 1 SSE2: 0 x86 CPU

OK, found and fixed both counts. For some weird reason, mplayer detected my language as Japanese. After the language fix: as of mplayer-1.0pre4 alsa9 does not exist and alsa1x does. What about adding a note to the ebuild to remember to change all alsa9's to alsa1x's?
pre4 already in portage. For new problems please open a new bug.
