The sunrise overlay already has version 2.0.9 of the gimp-dds plugin however it's pretty old (2010). Version 3.0.0 has just been released so I created an ebuild for it, if anyone's interested. I can provide the ebuild if required but it's really a trivial fix so maybe some existing maintainer can do it: 1. Copy the gimp-dds-2.0.9.ebuild to gimp-dds-3.0.0.ebuild 2. Change the RDEPEND to ">=media-gfx/gimp-2.8". According to the documentation Gimp 2.8 is now required. 3. The ebuild contains two sed commands, change "Makefile.linux" to "Makefile" in both. 4. done. The plugin compiles fine on my computer (amd64) against Gimp 2.8.6. I also checked that it runs, both loading and saving works as expected as far as I can see.

Duplicate? I'm not sure I agree. The Sunrise overlay already contains the gimp-dds plugin and my report was intended to notify the sunrise maintainers that a new version was out. Maybe the report was misplaced, in that case I'm sorry but there weren't very clear instructions on the sunrise page how to report updates. I'm guess there's nothing wrong with the other overlay, but since that only contains this one package and the Sunrise overlay contains this and many others I think Sunrise is a better place to put it.

Sunrise is gone.
