Description cjanderson 2013-11-22 23:47:53 UTC
dev-db/mysql-workbench-6.0.8 is missing a "runtime" library in one of the shared objects that are only loaded when you are displaying the database. I believe that the linking is missing a library (and I haven't bothered to figured out why it actually links as I don't know CMake).

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.emerge =dev-db/mysql-workbench-6.0.8
2.run the application /usr/bin/mysql-workbench
3.connect to a valid database (with data, but the problem is with the loading of the library)
4. crashes with symbol lookup error: /usr/lib64/mysql-workbench/libmforms.so: undefined symbol: scintilla_new

Actual Results:
/usr/bin/mysql-workbench-bin: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib64/mysql-workbench/libmforms.so: undefined symbol: scintilla_new

When you run ldd on the offending shared object, there is no mention of libwbscintilla.so, which is also installed in the same directory. I changed the CMakefile in .../dev-db/mysql-workbench-6.0.8/work/mysql-workbench-community-6.0.8-src/library/forms/CMakeLists.txt by adding libscintilla as one of the libraries in target_link_libraries (second last command) , and this solved the problem, but not properly as libtool didn't run on the file and ldd shows it as missing.

I can't reproduce this. From your description I understand that it is enough to connect to the database and do nothing else. Is that correct?
Comment 2 cjanderson 2013-12-16 21:49:29 UTC
You need to connect to a database which contains tables and/or data. This is when the SO is loaded.

The database I tried does have tables and data, and I browsed that data.

This still happens for me. May we please see your emerge --info?
Comment 5 cjanderson 2014-02-10 05:23:03 UTC
Doesn't happen with 6.0.9. Is the assignee still active on Gentoo or retired?
