Calculating dependencies... done!

emerge: there are no ebuilds to satisfy "=app-emulation/vmware-player-6.0.1*".
(dependency required by "app-emulation/vmware-modules-279.1" [ebuild])
(dependency required by "=app-emulation/vmware-modules-279.1" [argument])

The required vmware-player package does not exist in portage.

I don't see the error here...

You're trying to forcibly build a module version that requires a minimum of player 6.0.1, which is not in regular tree yet.

If you're trying that because it doesn't build against 3.11/3.12 there's more bad news here: https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=483410

That said you don't mention what you're running, what you're trying to accomplish, etc.

Ok, I did not see it from this perspective but you are right.
And the other issue you pointed out is exactly what I want to accomplish (running it on 3.12). Time to ditch VMware stuff alltogether and migrate to kvm :)
