The current server (jasmin) that is being used to generate the catalyst images is having some hardware issues and I am in need of a replacement to resume the build of the livedvd images. Reproducible: Always Requirements for new server: 1. non-hardened profile 2. preferably >=32G of ram 3. >=8 cores (Intel or AMD) 4. >=80G free space
I am removing my restriction to using non-hardened, so any server with the rest of specs will work just fine.
For the time being I've granted him access to my build box Nu. I am sacrificing my build cycles because honestly his livedvd has a lot more users than mine and it's good for gentoo. If anyone (infra?) has significant hardware they don't mind donating for this, I'm happy to let you have him instead of me.
I can't give you that much ram and cpu in a dedicated capacity. How often are you building liveDVDs? Is non-dedicated capacity good enough for your workload? -A
Grabbed likewhoa on irc, he is testing out a VM to see if it performs adequately. -A
I've been meaning for a while to open a request, both for infra and trustees, to get a new server for releng automated builds. The current server, skimmer, keeps having "hickups" while building stages. Fernando, given enough resources, would you be willing to use the releng build box? @releng / @infra: Do you see any reason not to "share" the build box?
I think we should make the lazy bum become a gentoo dev... but I have no issue sharing resources with him either way.
(In reply to Rick Farina (Zero_Chaos) from comment #6) > I think we should make the lazy bum become a gentoo dev... but I have no > issue sharing resources with him either way. Thanks again for sharing the boxen, but I think Alec has given me a better alternative since I will have more resources at my disposal. Jorge, I would like to but I gotta wait until I become less lazy and start on my quizzes ;) In the meantime if you need any help w.r.t to any releng stuff let me know.
Closing old bugs that I believe came to a resolution.
