Description Marian Kyral 2013-11-07 17:17:49 UTC
Most of the time I'm working in KDE, but from sometimes I want to work in text console (CTRL+ALT+F1-F6). Recently I was not able to login to the shell. I'm using upper case letters in my password and the Shift key does not work. Shift + any letter does nothing. I can't enter upper case letters, I can't enter special chars like / ? * " :. I can't work in shell and vim.

I'm not sure what is wrong and how long it does not work. My /etc/conf.f/keymaps file is untouched for the long time and it worked well in past.

I have the same problem on all my three gentoo boxes and I've found in forum, that the Gentoo install CD is also affected: http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-p-7435434.html#7435434

What happens if you set it to the default? What happens if you set it to cz-us-qwertz.map.gz?

What is default? I've tested cz-us-qwertz.map.gz and Shift key works. But I'm not able to write accents. It prints some ugly square for all accent character.

Is this still an issue?
Comment 4 Marian Kyral 2022-06-03 06:42:42 UTC
No. Looks like it was fixed long time ago. I totally forgot about this issue.
