I can't seem to get gaim to connect to the server. It just sits there unitl it times out.

How about some actual info. Gaim ver? emerge info? Which protocols won't connect?
Also which server/port you are using for those protocols and if you are behind a firewall/proxy server.
I'm not sure which version of gaim it is, it should be the latest stable version. arch:i686 I am behind a NAT router firewall that should allow any kind of outgoing request. There is no firewall configured on the workstation and web-browsing works fine. I haven't touched any of the default settings so I would be connecting to the default server/port. I might have the newest development version, but if so could someone post how to check for the make.conf settings that would set that. I tried emerge unmerge gaim && emerge gaim, but nothing was fixed. I don't really understand what's going on with it, mostly I wanted to know if anyone else was having this problem
Do an 'emerge info' and post the results here. Also run 'gaim -d' and see what happens and post.
