mythtv takes a long time to compile on older machines which are still powerful enough as mythtv backends. Thus, the request to add a frontend/backend USE flag for not compiling the unused part. I am not aware how much time is saved with this request. I will update this ticket if I have more data. Best regards, Octavian
Upstream requires and only supports building both at the same time. We used to have this functionality but they didn't like it and removed the ability to do this. You would have to request this capability from them.
