I can't seem to attach files to bugzilla today, possibly some JS issue with the submit button. Will try again later, and/or with another browser.
Is dev-libs/libffi installed on your system?
Yes, it's installed, and I've tried installing it again just to be sure. I initially thought wayland was missing a dependency, but it appears to depend correctly on the lib. (Or it's virtual, to be picky). I tried with both the stable 3.0.11 and unstable 3.0.13-r1, wayland fails the same way in both cases.
Actually, I looked closer and noticed the error message changed when I upgraded to dev-libs/libffi-3.0.13-r1. I tried with the other unstable version, but neither of them helped. This bumps into the same issue with expat, upgrading from 2.1.0-r2 to 2.1.0-r3 solved that. So it just looks like wayland needs to declare more strict depedencies.
In case I wasn't clear, "solved that." meant that wayland compiled and installed successfully when the deps were upgraded. :)
Can you retest with wayland 1.3.91?
1.3.91 builds for me with the stable expat and libffi. This bug can be closed now as far as I'm concerned. :)
