Description Hans de Graaff gentoo-dev Security 2013-10-20 07:43:07 UTC
Your package has USE_RUBY=ruby18 only. Versions in this slot are no longer supported upstream and this slot will be removed from Gentoo shortly. Please adapt your package to use a newer slot of ruby or mask it for removal if it is not compatible.

Upstream switched to new project:
"New features and future development are being carried out in a separate project called Palatina." as stated in here: http://alexandria.rubyforge.org/

 http://palatin.as/

Is it okay to treeclean this package?
Comment 2 Christian Faulhammer (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2013-11-03 15:32:23 UTC
Palatina is a technical study, not more. So treecleaning Alexandria would break my heart. Do you know the status for Alexandria on other arches or a good book library?

How about app-text/calibre?

You could try to patch it to ruby19. Fedora has some patches available here:
https://apps.fedoraproject.org/packages/alexandria/sources/

Also we need to add support for ruby19 in dev-ruby/imagesize,
maybe we should take a look here:
https://github.com/mattheworiordan/imagesize

and dev-ruby/revolution needs ruby 1.9 support too or we need to mask evo useflag.

revolution no longer compiles with newer evolution-data-server. We already hard-depend on evolution-data-server-2* and when Gnome 3 is stable this package will need to be masked and removed.

Due to a security bug dev-lang/ruby:1.8 will be masked within a week. Please try to fix this package before that time or we will need to include it in the mask.

There's a patch for ruby19 + revolution available, but I guess graaf is right.

Comment 8 Manuel Rüger (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2014-03-07 13:12:11 UTC
I'm going to remove ruby18 support and pmask this package as it depends on it next Thursday.
If you really need this package, please try to fix it until then. Check also the link to a possible patch I've posted.

Removed from tree.
