Description brankob 2013-10-15 05:30:06 UTC
I am setting up gentoo system on empty machine from scratch.

Doc page on gentoo.org says that I should download stage3 into new root, unpack it, sets some bits here and there, chroot and set the profile before I do emerge --sync etcetc.

But eselect profile list shows no valid profiles and stage3 doesn't seem to contain /usr/portage/profiles/*

Reproducible: Always

Actual Results:
eselect profile list show no valid profile

I did my installation from latest minimal install for amd64 and unpacked stage3-amd64-2013101.tar.bz2

No, it says specifically that you do "Installing a Portage Snapshot" first and then "Choosing the Right Profile", not the reverse.
