When telling sys-kernel/genkernel-next-29 to also automatically generate the grub2 configuration with the config line BOOTLOADER="grub2" in /etc/genkernel.conf, it calls grub2-mkconfig to generate the config file as /boot/grub2/grub.cfg, although recently this was changed back to /boot/grub/grub.cfg in the grub2 ebuild(s).
