app-misc/mc-4.6.0-r6 (and possibly other versions, not tested) when compiled with the samba USE flag wants /usr/lib/libsmbclient.so.0, but net-fs/samba-3.0.2a-r1 doesn't provide this, only /usr/lib/libsmbclient.so. I have created a symlink pointing to this and mc seems to be happy, but I don't actually have any Samba shares to check it out with, so I can't confirm.
