Description Raymond Jennings 2013-10-04 03:55:56 UTC
Upgrading to 2.99.901 in an attempt to fix Warzone2100 caused screen garbage, and a failure to assume 1024x768 resolution. Switching to console and back to X caused the menubar to be garbage when first visible.

Reproducible: Always

Yeah I'm not really sure this is a duplicate. The screen garbage I saw wasn't just black rectangles.

Also, the screen resolution botching is a separate problem.

Here's the scoop. When I switch from 640x400 resolution vt, to X, the resolution stays at 640x400, and not switching to 1024x768 like it's supposed to.

I'm also using the "slim" display manager

This bug is NOT a dupe of 486952, that's a completely seperate issue only involving Mozilla/etc, though it might be related to #436734.

according to https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=74327
it's fixed in newer driver verison
Comment 6 Matt Turner gentoo-dev 2015-02-23 00:56:42 UTC
I think it's very likely this is fixed in a new version of the driver. If it's not, please file a bug upstream at bugs.freedesktop.org. We're not prepared to fix driver issues that aren't fixed upstream.
