I wish I could inform portage that I do not have a scanner or CDRW drive. For 
instance, I do not need sane-backends with kdegraphics or cdrtools with 
kdemultimedia.

OK, sorry about delay. I've finally committed this now. Not that the flags are off by default, and are tied to the cdrtools and sane-backends packages instead. Having them on by default didn't make much sense (to me and other people).
