gentoo-amd64 does not create a Gnome (and I assume KDE) menu item for many applications. IN particular, I'd like to see a "Science" or "Math" menu entry in the Applications menu. Again, I'm speaking Gnome, since I'm not using KDE, but I'm certain the same idea applies to both GUIs.

sci peoples - any input here. Scott, Gentoo are still awaiting the finalisation of a GLEP that deals with menu configuration. I suggest we wait until that is complete before looking at this bug.
