After 3 years, irssi received some love from the developers. Version 0.8.16-rc1 was released September 15. Please look to bump the version to the -rc1 (0.8.16 might take a long time to come through). Reproducible: Always
Are there any technical reasons why this is not moving along? ...or we are all just waiting on swegener@gentoo.org?
Created attachment 371684 [details] irssi ebuild from svn converted to git
As a work-around I decided to attempt to install irssi from SVN. Their web-based SVN is up and seems to be working through the browser, but not when portage tries to check it out. The SVN URL in the ebuild is correct. Additionally, it ended up installing subversion as a dependency, which I wasn't really thrilled about. After poking around on irssi's website I found they keep a git repo sync'd with their svn that's read-only. So I modified the irssi-9999 ebuild to take advantage of the read-only git repo at git://git.irssi.org/irssi and it built successfully. Attached is my irssi-9999 ebuild for those who want it now. FYI, when I run `irssi --version` this is what I get: irssi 0.8.16-rc1 (20140111 1953) >>> Emerging (1 of 1) net-irc/irssi-9999 >>> Unpacking source... * subversion check out start --> * repository: http://svn.irssi.org/repos/irssi/trunk svn: E175002: Unable to connect to a repository at URL 'http://svn.irssi.org/repos/irssi/trunk' svn: E175002: OPTIONS request on '/repos/irssi/trunk' failed: 408 Request Timeout * ERROR: net-irc/irssi-9999 failed (unpack phase): * subversion: can't fetch to /var/src/distfiles/svn-src/irssi/trunk from http://svn.irssi.org/repos/irssi/trunk.
Thanks, commited.
