Hello! I'm the project manager for the open source project "Gallery" http://gallery.sf.net/ and an active user of Gentoo. I would like to pitch in and keep the Gallery e-builds up to date and was pointed here as a starting place. What do i need to do?
Hi! I think a good place to start would be for you to have a go at converting the Gallery ebuild to use the new webapp-config approach. webapp-config comes with three man pages to explain how it works - webapp.eclass(5), webapp-config(5) and webapp-config(8). I know that the ebuilds for trac and wordpress already use webapp-config, so they are two examples you can refer to as well. It's probably easier if we keep this bug just for your recruitment. Could you open up a new bug for your new Gallery ebuild, and attach the ebuild there? Don't worry if you have problems - I'm here to help ;-) Best regards, Stu
here is my first shot at it. I think I am missing the point of ${D} but its a start.. http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=51008
Mentor: Stuart
Deedra, should the evaluation period start now? Or from the time the bug was first opened?
We need to know what the mentor thinks on this. So far, the mentor hasn't commented on this bug on the ebuild he submitted. So, it's the mentor's call
ping? What's the status here?
I'm still trying to figure out what is wrong with my ebuild every now and then..
stuart, come talk to me about this one please.
Hi Chris, Sorry for the delay in dealing with this. You have my full attention now. Deedra's probably going to line up someone else to help too, in case I disappear again. I'll add some review comments to your ebuild, and we'll take it from there. Best regards, Stu
Chris: Can you come talk to me on IRC. Stuart: What is the status on this developer?
The status is that I'm waiting for Chris to respond to my feedback on his ebuild. Best regards, Stu
Chris should continue helping the gentoo community through bugzilla, forums, etc until he has a better understanding of ebuilds work. Chris: Feel free to reopen this bug when you are a bit more confident in your ability to maintain ebuilds, and don't hesitate to ask for help.
