Description Christian Schmidt 2013-09-15 12:05:22 UTC
The enlightenment window manager in the current version has a known bug that makes it lock up on start on multi screen setups: http://osdir.com/ml/enlightenment-users-linux-ui/2013-08/msg00064.html

The fix is already in git:
http://git.enlightenment.org/core/enlightenment.git/commit/?h=enlightenment-0.17&id=b17a9b9cc9438b6dfac4402ac4107f08e23a4373

This could be used for a 0.17.4-r1 ebuild. The alternative would be to upgrade all the 1.7.8 libraries to the 1.7.9 prerelease at http://download.enlightenment.org/pre-releases/efl-1.7.9/ and enlightenment to 0.17.5 prerelease at
http://download.enlightenment.org/pre-releases/enlightenment-0.17.5/

The latter works for me.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install x11-wm/enlightenment-0.17.4
2. Use more than one display
3. start enlightenment
Actual Results:
Black screen, enlightenment locks up

Expected Results:
Normal enlightenment start

So the enlightenment-0.17.5_pre1 ebuild does fix this issue for you?

Also the same patch fixes bug 483194 so this might be a duplicate.

I didn't see any public pre ebuilds, so I rolled my own with the complete set of 1.7.9_pre1 EFL. That solved the problem for me indeed.

Looking at the bug this report might be a duplicate... strange that enlightenment ALL didn't list it :/ behavior is identical.

should be fixed with the latest versions in the tree
