1. Inside Firefox, click on Tools -> Options -> Privacy
2. Expand the Saved Passwords section
3. Click on the "View Saved Passwords" button that appears

Nothing happens

Does not work with me either
Comment 6 Lee Trager 2004-06-14 16:10:18 UTC
I get the same problem, on my desktop. On my desktop I run ~x86 vanalla kernel 2.6.6 x.org and fluxbox. On my laptop I do not get this problem, there I run all of the same stuff but instead of running fluxbox I run KDE. Could the wm be the problem? Im waiting to see if firefox 0.9 will fix the problem.
Comment 7 Kristy Christie 2004-06-14 16:17:33 UTC
If it's the WM, then it's both Gnome 2.6 & XFCE4 for me.
Comment 8 Lee Trager 2004-06-14 16:51:26 UTC
I just downloaded Firefox 0.9 beta from mozilla.org and installed it as a user in my home dir. I did not have that problem with it. Try that out its a pretty fast dl(less then 30sec on cable).
Comment 9 Alan Schmitt 2004-06-25 01:45:47 UTC
I have the same problem here, both with current firefox (0.9) and with the previous version. I run enlightenment 0.16 pre4.
Comment 10 Kristy Christie 2004-07-27 18:10:54 UTC
I've updated the firefox via portage and version 0.9.1 still has the problem.

I've also tried unmerging & re-merging the package.
Comment 11 Ben Smith 2004-08-11 02:28:15 UTC
Added to CC list.

I'm experiencing the same problem. I have net-www/mozilla-firefox-0.9.1 running and can't view my saved passwords. I also have an issue when prompted to save a new password the dialog box appears twice.
Comment 12 mike 2004-09-03 13:54:35 UTC
I've got the same bug, had it for a while (since i switched to firefox around the 0.8 release). I am now running mozilla-firefox-0.9.3, and the bug has been constant through every revision. The description of mine is the same as ben smith's: (1)can't view saved passwords (2)get a second popup when prompted if i want to store a password, which appears after i click my selection on the first popup.
Comment 13 Ben Smith 2004-09-04 07:15:17 UTC
I've just emerge'd the latest firefox (0.9.3-r1) after sticking "net-www/mozilla-firefox ~x86" into /etc/portage.package.keywords on a clean install and this bug is now fixed. I can view the stored passwords and am only prompted once to remember a password. It might be worth an upgrade on a clean .mozilla directory if you suffer this problem

emerge -p mozilla-firefox

These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

Calculating dependencies ...done!
[ebuild R ] net-www/mozilla-firefox-0.9.3-r1
Comment 14 Ben Smith 2004-09-04 07:16:21 UTC
Oops, typo:

/etc/portage.package.keywords should be /etc/portage/package.keywords
Comment 15 Kristy Christie 2004-09-07 04:19:23 UTC
Thanks for the tip, Ben. This is what I've done:

1) I unmerged my mozilla-firefox package
2) Emerged it with a: ACCEPT KEYWORDS="~x86" emerge mozilla-firefox
3) After it was done, renamed my /home/kristy/.mozilla to .mozilla-old
4) Opened my brand-new 0.9.3-r1 firefox, tried opening a site with a password and voila! it saved without asking me for my password twice :)

Even better, I could open the "View Saved Passwords" window and see the
password listed there.

Unfortunately, I can't start "afresh" with Firefox right now because there are
just waaay too many passwords to re-enter and I don't have the time.

So, I copied the following files from my .mozilla-old to .mozilla

- bookmarks.html
- history.dat
- formhistory.dat
- key3.db
- signons.txt
- cookies.txt
- prefs.js

But now, with the old files in the new profile folder, even though it doesn't prompt for my passwords twice and the "View Saved Passwords" window opens, it doesn't list my old passwords in it nor does it list any new passwords that I save. With any hope, maybe 1.0 will be able to have everything working :)
Comment 16 Kristy Christie 2004-09-07 04:22:06 UTC
typo :) it should be: ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" emerge mozilla-firefox
