I'm filing this bug on behalf of a user in #gentoo on freenode who reported the issue there, but did not wish to file a bug. When compiled with USE=pulseaudio, firefox attempts to build against pulseaudio, but the ebuild does not depend on pulseaudio. This results in a build failure for users that don't have pulseaudio already installed. The user reporting this provided the following build error message: In file included from /var/tmp/portage/www-client/firefox-23.0/work/mozilla-release/media/libcubeb/src/cubeb_pulse.c:11:0: ../../../dist/system_wrappers/pulse/pulseaudio.h:3:35: fatal error: pulse/pulseaudio.h: No such file or directory Firefox presumably needs a DEPEND on media-sound/pulseaudio when the pulseaudio useflag is enabled, and likely also an RDEPEND for the same. Unfortunately, this is all the information I have, as this is all the information the user provided in-channel. I understand that this does not normally meet the standards required for bug reports, but I hope that it is sufficient for the mozilla team to correct the issue.
Fixed in 24.0 which will show up on mirrors shortly.
