Gstreamer 0.8.1 was released a few days ago, it should be included in portage. gstreamer, gst-plugins and gst-plugins-* need updating Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" emerge -p gstreamer Actual Results: These are the packages that I would merge, in order: [ebuild R ] media-libs/gstreamer-0.8.0 Expected Results: These are the packages that I would merge, in order: [ebuild U ] media-libs/gstreamer-0.8.1
time is on my side... no it isn't in general we know about release, just have alittle patience.
Ok, so 0.8.1 is out now and I thought I'd upgrade to it. Everything went great but when I do an 'emerge -puDv world' afterwards it gives me this: These are the packages that I would merge, in order: Calculating world dependencies ...done! [ebuild UD] media-libs/gstreamer-0.8.0 [0.8.1] 0 kB [ebuild UD] media-libs/gst-plugins-0.8.0-r1 [0.8.1] +alsa +esd +oss 0 kB Total size of downloads: 0 kB Hmm, that means that something wasn't correct so I thought I better downgrade then, which I did. The problem is that when I do an 'emerge -puDv world' after downgrading to 0.8.0 portage tells me that I should upgrade to 0.8.1... So the question is: Do I do something wrong? Do the ebuild guys do something wrong? Has portage become schizophrenic? ;-)
gst 0.8.1 added, closing @richard : probably portage. gstreamer is an intricate set of deps, i don't think the really crude approach of 'uD' will work here. Especially 'D' i consider broken by design.
