The COPYING file seems to be GPL-2, but the headers in ALL source files say: * This program is free software; you can redistribute it and/or * modify it under the terms of the GNU Lesser General Public License as * published by the Free Software Foundation; either version 2 of the * License, or (at your option) any later version. which would be LGPL-2+ However, which one applies is not clear. Maybe upstream just doesn't know their license headers are wrong. more notes from AUTHORS file: "The presence icons are available under the GPL, but please give credit to Youngjin "artwiz" Hahn <artwiz@artramp.org> for creating them. Contains pieces of artwork from: Gabber Jabber client gnome-icon-theme Crystal icon set" so those are probably a few other licenses
Generally, license notices of individual files are more authoritative than a COPYING file. So here it would be LGPL-2.1+ (not LGPL-2+, because there is no version 2 of the GNU _Lesser_ General Public License). However, I'd suggest that you ask upstream for clarification. > "The presence icons are available under the GPL, but please give credit > to Youngjin "artwiz" Hahn <artwiz@artramp.org> for creating them. > > Contains pieces of artwork from: > Gabber Jabber client > gnome-icon-theme > Crystal icon set" > > so those are probably a few other licenses Also, files src/disclosure-widget.{c,h} and src/gtktip.{c,h} have both a LGPL-2.1+ and a GPL-2+ license notice.
oh, nice trap between LIBRARY and LESSER :)
Treecleaned.
