Description Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2013-08-15 07:36:49 UTC
Otherwise, they will start to complain (as have started with me :S) about they losing files in /tmp or it becoming full on low mem systems.

We should simply add a link to:
http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/systemd/APIFileSystems/

to complain -> to get complaints

Wait. There are people who don't use tmpfs for /tmp?! Really!? I always though it's so obvious you always do it mechanically in the fstab.

And tmpfs is not the only issue here. systemd-tmpfiles also removes old files from /tmp and /var/tmp.

Heh, losing files in /tmp... I guess people will complain about anything.

Yeah, adding that link to the wiki is not a bad idea.
Comment 4 Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2013-08-15 19:53:27 UTC
Well, I noticed the problem because I wasn't mounting it on tmpfs on any computer I maintain and also sometimes rely on files being preserved there for some days ;)

Also, sometimes I download ISOs there for burning them and that can be problematic if they are big enough :S

(In reply to Pacho Ramos from comment #4)

I think /var/tmp is there for the bigger temp files; at least, that's what I use it for.
