Description Adam Bolte 2004-04-16 20:02:44 UTC
emerge -u kdeadmin always fails on one of my Gentoo installations, however my second box had no problems. I was unable to determine any further information other than that posted in the forum (URL above). At the time of writing, nobody has replied.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge kdeadmin
2. wait for it...
3. observe error. ;)

Actual Results:
checking if kuser should be compiled... yes
checking if lilo-config should be compiled... yes
checking if secpolicy should be compiled... yes
configure: creating ./config.status

Good - your configure finished. Start make now

!!! ERROR: kde-base/kdeadmin-3.2.1 failed.
!!! Function kde_src_compile, Line 128, Exitcode 2
!!! died running emake, kde_src_compile:make

critter root #

Note that the compiling process doesn't even start. Manually running configure
and make on the source seems to work fine (without the ebuild).

Expected Results:
Compiled.

Disabling distcc from FEATURES made no difference.

don't think we can be of much help, the output doesn't really say what's wrong, but it's most like unsermake related.
Comment 2 Adam Bolte 2004-05-08 07:52:02 UTC
I think you are right. I got it to work now. It seems simply unsetting $UNSERMAKE wasn't sufficient, and I actually had to remove it from my /etc/env.d/blah setting as well. Sorry for the troubles.

Perhaps unsermake can be included in portage where ebuilders can have the option of utilizing it? At the very least, this could prevent further portage problems regardless of whether Gentoo developers actually used it or not.

Thanks for helping out anyway.

unsermake is in portage...Look in the Desktop area of the forums.
Comment 4 Adam Bolte 2004-05-10 05:57:18 UTC
Wow - that was quick! Thanks man.
Comment 5 Caleb Tennis (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-05-18 15:58:19 UTC
closing as a cantfix as it seems unsermake related.
