This -only- happens while using alsa as sound system, oss works fine with arts/esd, i recompiled libsdl several times trying to disable alsa support in hope it would work, but then only the alsa msg was gone but the segfault was still happening, so it looks like esd/arts is the problem Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. use alsa in kernel 2. install arts or esd (both don't work) 3. compile libsdl with support for arts/esd 4. run any application that uses libsdl Actual Results: The apps crash with: ALSA lib pcm_hw.c:1057:(snd_pcm_hw_open) open /dev/snd/pcmC0D0p failed: Device or resource busy Fatal signal: Segmentation Fault (SDL Parachute Deployed) Expected Results: Don't show any error message and run with sound (arts/esd) enabled so I can hear messages from my messenger/music while playing :)
Are you still experiencing this issue? This has been the only reported case of this.
seems more like an alsa bug ...
No feedback for a month.
apps won't crash anymore, though there are some issues with arts (slower etc.) but this is not part of this bug
