Comment 1 Chris Brannon (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2013-08-03 15:47:17 UTC
The udev rules came from upstream. This is really their bug.
Feel free to report it to them.
If you'd like, I'm happy to do that for you.

It seems this bug is/has been in known on several distros, is there some version to be stabilized, I could test for this problem?

That is mostly brltty-4.5, and the bug was fixed in ubuntu on 2011-11-22
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/brltty/+bug/874181
Comment 4 Chris Brannon (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2013-08-08 02:32:26 UTC
This hasn't been fixed upstream in 4.5, either.
Ubuntu fixed it by commenting out the udev rules downstream.
I'll post to the brltty mailing list about this tomorrow morning. I'd
like to see it fixed upstream before I write a patch for Gentoo.
Comment 5 Chris Brannon (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2013-08-17 13:56:48 UTC
I posted about this on the brltty list, and the only answer I received
was that commenting out the rules in our package is the suggested
practice. I'll commit a fix later today.
Comment 6 Chris Brannon (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2013-08-20 13:49:18 UTC
Fixed in brltty-4.5-r1 by commenting out the conflicting udev rules.
