Portage uses the system default locale for building, which can make build logs more difficult to understand. I propose to add the following to the default make.conf: # This sets the language of build output to English. Please keep this setting intact when reporting bugs. LC_MESSAGES=C Links to discussion: http://archives.gentoo.org/gentoo-dev/msg_b38394a47225740245ecc68f16e740fd.xml http://archives.gentoo.org/gentoo-dev/msg_d7dc9ae9c8f4013bff3f7c559e521b3f.xml http://archives.gentoo.org/gentoo-dev/msg_0cd6b1f0e0b0c156e51b498362ec96f2.xml

Could this be reviewed please? We are still often needing to ask people to rebuild the packages with C locale to get "proper" error messages in build.logs Thanks
