After emerging dev-libs/uclibc-0.9.26-r1, it looks like i386-uclibc-gcc is missing. dca root # cd /usr/i386-linux-uclibc/bin/ dca bin # ls i386-uclibc-addr2line i386-uclibc-nm i386-uclibc-size i386-uclibc-ar i386-uclibc-objcopy i386-uclibc-strings i386-uclibc-as i386-uclibc-objdump i386-uclibc-strip i386-uclibc-cpp i386-uclibc-ranlib Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. emerge dev-libs/uclibc-0.9.26-r1 2. 3. dca bin # emerge info Portage 2.0.50-r5 (default-x86-1.4, gcc-3.3.2, glibc-2.3.2-r9, 2.6.5-gentoo) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.5-gentoo i686 Intel(R) Pentium(R) M processor 1700MHz Gentoo Base System version 1.4.3.13 Autoconf: sys-devel/autoconf-2.58-r1 Automake: sys-devel/automake-1.8.3 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CFLAGS="-O3 -march=pentium3 -funroll-loops -pipe" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" COMPILER="gcc3" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/share / config /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-O3 -march=pentium3 -funroll-loops -pipe" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoaddcvs ccache sandbox" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://gentoo.oregonstate.edu http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/Linu x/distributions/gentoo" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="apm arts avi berkdb crypt cups encode foomaticdb gdbm gif gpm gtk2 imlib jp eg libg++ libwww mad mikmod motif mpeg ncurses nls oggvorbis opengl oss pam pdfl ib perl png python quicktime readline sdl slang spell ssl svga tcpd truetype x86 xml2 xmms xv zlib"
There are moves about that relate too toolchaining and uclibc. I'm going to try to get a grasp back on how things are working and any fix here may not be necessary.
the toolchain wrapper has been removed from uclibc, that's why 0.9.21 is still in portage and it's the stable version vs 0.9.26 if you want the wrappers, use that version ... those symlinks shouldnt even be there but portage isnt too smart about removing them :) if you want to use 0.9.26, build a real toolchain
