A select few administrators (such as those who wish to use Dell's aacraid controller program, compiled against ) require the availability of aRts on their system, but may not want to install xfree on the servers in question. For this purpose, an ebuild for the standalone version of aRts that is not dependant on xfree and KDE should be available.

Forgot to paste in the library the mentioned Dell utility was compiled against. (libartsc.so.0)

you can manually change the deps from the arts ebuild as needed, but i don't see this is anything we will support in portage unless someone steps up to do it.
