Description Martin Filo 2013-07-12 16:40:02 UTC
I used default logging rules with syslog-ng-3.2.5. After upgrade to syslog-ng-3.4.2. I found that after syslog-ng restart almost all logs haven't been updated. I have found that reason of this issue are the missing rules in /etc/syslog-ng/syslog-ng.conf, etc-update didn't report any changes.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. install syslog-ng-3.2.5
2. update to syslog-ng-3.4.2
3.
Actual Results:
no new logs in auth.log, mail.*,....

Expected Results:
same or similar default behavior, or found differencies in etc-update, or news which inform about this change

Seems like you were using the hardened config. That's no longer installed via the hardened use flag. It is installed as an example in the documentation directory however so feel free to modify it to suit your needs.
