Currently there is a single ebuild for net-fs/openafs, which installs both the server and client components. In many cases (ie: when running a machine which only needs an AFS client), this is undesirable as it adds extra "gunk" to the system. I am of the belief that net-fs openafs should be split into two components. Additionally, this ebuild refactor could assist in dealing with bug 239369 (net-fs/openafs should not depend on net-fs/openafs-kernel) Reproducible: Always
I have looked into that, and there is no simple way to split the installation. Have checked other distributions and the split is done manually on specific files. The 2 ebuilds would require identical compile steps, and the split does not make sense in this case. The bug 239369 will be fixed by fixing the RDEPEND in ebuild.
