Could you try reemerging it? I am unable to duplicate this bug.
Comment 2 autobear 2004-04-14 00:20:28 UTC
reemerge didn't help

Comment 3 Jason Cox (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-04-14 08:33:38 UTC
Did you clean your distfiles directory before you reemerged it? Or at least cleaned 2.6.5-mm1-gentoo1.bz2?
Comment 4 quannum 2004-04-14 10:56:47 UTC
Try 'emerge mm-sources' from the liveCD. Your current running kernel is not writing files to disk properly i think. see http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=46355
Comment 5 Jason Cox (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-04-16 09:47:24 UTC
That was it. You're on a buggy kernel. If you get the "Kernel is too old" error when chrooting from the livecd, use the smp kernel.
