After compiling ati-drivers-13.4 or later starting X will display a black screen with an _ in the upper left corner. The 13.4 beta drivers worked fine.

The Xorg.0.log will show a failed to open CMMQS connection and segmentation fault at 0x890 errors

System is an acer 8943G laptop with ati mobility 5800 graphics card.

expected behaviour: Nice running X server
actual behaviour: X crashes

ati-drivers is dead, and will not be supported for X.
