# Diego Elio Pettenò <flameeyes@gentoo.org> (25 Jan 2013) # Masked for testing >=dev-libs/boost-1.53.0_beta1 >=dev-util/boost-build-1.53.0_beta1 I would like to have boost-1.53 unmasked especially because boost-1.52 is considered broken in some ways (bug 461574 and bug 461578). Is boost-1.53 ready for unmasking, or is additional testing still needed before that can happen?
Alternative: skip release https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=475712 I am using boost-1.53 a longer time without issues. (But I see every now and then boost-1.52 issues in the forums) A lot of build failing issues of boost-15.3 https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=454100 affect scientific software, which doesnt have had a recent new uptream release. But some of them have without having had an ebuild bump at Gentoo.
Skipping 1.53 will probably not cause any gain, because packages failing to build against 1.53 likely also fail with 1.54. I unmasked 1.53 now.
