net-mail/drac is already in portage. I prefer it over net-mail/pop-before-smtp. I have attached a modified ebuild to enable support in uw-imap.

Also note we normally don't accept third party patches unless they are needed and upstream refuses to apply them.

Resolving -> NEEDINFO since reporter never came back with the patch after ticho asked for it.

Yes, this is obsolete. SMTP-Auth is the way to go. I never looked into it again. This should be merged upstream if really needed.
