I'm running dev-php/pecl-apc-3.1.13 on raspberry pi with php-5.4 and all works very well. Please consider to unmask it

I'd rather not add any keywords to apc given that it is being more or less superseded by zendopcache. I recommend you try that package instead.

zendopcache is also hardmaskered for arm. I will try it
