The latest gentoo alpha kernel is 2.4.21-r4 yet portage wants me to merge headers for 2.4.23.

Well, we need the newer headers to keep some compilations from breaking, and we don't have a newer kernel available yet.  I don't think it breaks anything this way, but hopefully we'll get an updated kernel soon (I'm working on it)
