It was released about a week ago. The important new feature is that the build system is finally somewhat working, that is optional dependencies can be disabled now. See NEWS file.
Not that much. I gave him proper patch but he did not like it. I shall look to it in couple of hours tho so stay tuned

I shall look > to it in couple of hours tho so stay tuned You're not the only one - I've sent him a sort of working patch about 8 months ago, there was (still is ?) also at least one bug about it in upstream bugzilla. Let's just call it a mater of differing priorities. As annoying as it might be, it can't be really helped.
Fixed in cvs. Thanks for the report.
Just a little thing: AFAIU, the recent posts on the list suggest, that 'glib' should be a +flag, if at all (as the biggest harbuzz consumer is recent pango, AFAIK). Though the author is right there - just about anything that needs it, duplicates unicode data.
Not to argue but i think libreoffice is bigger consumer of harfbuzz ;-) Anyway the glib is needed for the pango and i didn't want to break a thing. In the set only really required are truetype and || ( glib icu ) Problem is that with enabled icu it builds also icu-le which on other you don't want, so i went with glib.
