FTDI drivers are on the new 4.5 Linux KDE OS. However, FTDI USB to Serial devices, when plugged in, do not enumerate to a serial COM port. FTDI driver DOES enumerate to a port and works in the Linux Debian "Wheezy" and the new Ubunto 13.04 version. KDE needs to fix this! Thanks Allen Evans Covington, Louisiana
You have obvious keyboard problems to fix. Now could you explain what it is you want to share with us? Like, is this a problem known and solved elsewhere? Is it a problem in the kernel or in KDE or in some low level service?
When I plug in an FTDI USB to Serial device, the KDE Operating System fails to assign a serial "Com:" port even though the driver was identified and did load. This does not happened when using Linux Debian Wheezy or Linux Ubuntu 13.04. So I must conclude that this is a bug in Linux KDE Ver 4.10.3. I have been unable to find a a solution online. Sorry I am unable to go into further depth regarding this anolay with KDE. Thanks.

There is no such thing as a KDE 'operating system'. KDE is a desktop environment running on a variety operating systems. To identify what you are actually running, post the output of `emerge --info' as you were instructed when filing this bug. Please do read and follow instructions given to you next time. > Sorry I am unable to go into further depth regarding this anolay with KDE. > Do you mean 'anomaly'? You will have to provide further details if you expect people to help you. 1) What were you trying to do? 2) How *exactly* did you try to do it? (What command invocations, etc) 3) What were you expecting to happen? (Something appearing in /dev?) 4) What happened instead?
Please post your `emerge --info' output in a comment.
(In reply to Jeroen Roovers from comment #4) > Please post your `emerge --info' output in a comment. Issue Solved! -> Make a group. user name given access to all ports and devices. sudo adduser $USER dialout sudo gpasswd -a ${USER} dialout #Plug in FTDI USB to Serial Converter egrp "^dialout" /etc/group groups ls -l /dev/tty* #Navigate to JMRI DecoderPro. Open Program. Choose port dev/tty/USBx
