KDE taskmanager widget: multiple instances of VLC

Hi there,

there is one bug (or maybe a feature?!) for a longer time and now I got the time to fill this report.

When you open up an application multiple times, e.g. opening media files with VLC, the KDE taskmanager will show you even multiple instances at the taskmanager widget attached to your panel. I attached a screenshot, which will show you the problem.

These more or less empty icons disappear after 30 seconds, but you can't close them by hand (right clicking opens up the taskmanager menu). Of cause this icons don't appear when you allow multiple instances of e.g. VLC.

The problem is that when you open up a lot of media files in a short time, you even dont't have space left for your "real" applications.

If you need any further information, feel free to contact me :-)

Hopefully this is the right application:

I have run into this I believe since KDE 3. I am guessing it happens because KDE is waiting for a new process to be launched, but really the existing one is reused.

I wonder if there should be something in the VLC .desktop file to indicate this.

But what WE as Gentoo can do about it?

Please report this to bugs.kde.org. We can't do much about it.
