Description Rick Farina (Zero_Chaos) gentoo-dev 2013-06-01 13:39:23 UTC
I'd like to mentor wtking during his recruitment to be a gentoo developer.

He has been helping with releng and catalyst for a while now and we would all like to see it more official.

I'm `wtking` on freenode because someone else beat me to registering `wking`. I'd prefer `wking` as a Gentoo username (if possible). I thought I'd put the notice here to make sure it was available before the infrastructure folks go through the trouble of making accounts.

I just check and it seems you managed to get the 'wking' IRC nickname correct? Also what does the W. stand in your name? I am not sure I am able to parse this name correctly (which one is the first name, which one is the last name?)

CC'ing the releng@ team for approval.

Yup, Zero Chaos pointed out that it was free again.

William, but only the government calls me that ;).

Everyone I know calls me by my middle name (Trevor). Last name is King.

We still need to use the real name for the foundation purposes (we recently had a similar discussion) so others can sign your key by looking at an official document (eg passport) so I presume we should use William T. King for the account when the time comes. Are you ok with that?

Then I'd go with the full “William Trevor King”.

Any ETA on the quizzes?

wking is currently rate limited by my availability. I'll take this as a hint to find more time for him.

Please reopen when you are ready

With the consent of the assigned mentor I have agreed to substitute as mentor to Mr. King. His quizzes will undergo some fresh revision and review in the immediate short term. He is still active within releng and cataylst and has created new related ebuilds in his public gentoo overlay. At least one is poised for addition to portage. I can't at this point anticipate any time frame for submission of his quiz answers.

Status here?

We're up through q9 in the ebuild section, and are mostly constrained by my available time. I expect we'll get through this round of review inside the next month though.

I withdraw my status as mentor. I do not wish to be associated with would be devs who are not genuinely committed to the goal of full treading the path. All the evidence here suggests this user was never really committed.

Fair.

I feel like I was pretty committed, but yeah, it was never my first priority. Thanks for all the help, and at least we got some patches landed in the devmanual out of it :).
