The net-setup tool is missing on the ppc universal LiveCD. It's mentioned in the handbook. Remember to include it on the 2004.1 release Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce:
Thnxs, I had opened another bug about this a while ago. The problem is that net-setup cannot be installed without pulling in a huge about of x86 only ebuilds. Another problem was that it couldn't setup wireless, and was broken. I have included a net-select shell script that says this tool is not included on the ppc livecd and explains how to setup (dhcpcd , /etc/conf.d/net /etc/init.d/net.* start) the network. I've also included such verbose scripts for all the tools we used to include in the past.
The installation instructions read: """ If the network doesn't work immediately, some installation media allow you to use net-setup (for regular networks) or adsl-setup (for ADSL-users). If your installation medium does not contain any of these tools or your network doesn't function yet, continue with Manual Network Configuration. """ Note the "some installation media" and the "If your installation medium does not contain" parts.
