There's a bug in xeCJK Chinese typesetting. Upstream xeCJK fixed the bug on 2012.12.23, but not bump version number, and texlive-xetex in portage pulls in the old(and buggy) version of xeCJK. Please update xeCJK and its dependancies.

not sure if its worth it for now: texlive 2013 is on its way upstream and should fix this

Here's temporary fix, try to add the following line to your preamble:
`\xeCJKsetup{CJKglue=\hspace{0pt plus .08 \baselineskip }}`

The xeCJK maintainer said that it was his fault.

xecjk will be updated with texlive 2013
