Description Jared Lash 2002-07-08 15:08:00 UTC
Nobody seems to be able to see the Euro symbol in #gentoo on
irc.openprojects.net. International font support seems to not work.

I forgot to mention I was trying using many different 1-byte fonts. ASCII
characters 033-126 only show up. I worked most on
-B&H-LucidaTypewriter-Medium-R-Normal-Sans-18-180-75-75-M-110-ISO8859-15

IRC is an 8-bit (7-bit) ascii protocol, what characters appear depend on what
fonts the other user has.

-adobe-helvetica-medium-r-normal-*-*-120-*-*-p-*-iso8859-15

That font (fex. ) supports Euro, most others will see it as a Circle with four
pegs on it because that's what character held that position in pre-euro fonts.
