Using media-video/avidemux-2.6.3, if you stop a playing video, it makes the GUI to be unresponsive. (Using "steps" button doesn't create the issue). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open a video 2. Ask AviDemux to play it (arrow button) 3. Top it 4. The GUI isn't unresponsibe anymore Actual Results: The only way out is to kill AviDemux. Expected Results: Being able to continue to work. Not reproducible here. 1) Can you run `avidemux3_qt4` from the command line and look at the last lines of output that show when you hit stop? 2) More advanced would be to obtain a stack trace using gdb by starting the program with `gdb avidemux3_qt4` then do `run`, then reproduce the problem, then hit CTRL+C and then capture the output of `bt full`. Make sure you have followed the instructions in http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/qa/backtraces.xml for the backtraces to be meaningful.

Do you still experience this? If so, see the above part of the stack trace; the issue appears to lie with alsa, could you try to compile a newer version of alsa with debugging information (http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/qa/backtraces.xml) and produce a new stack trace? To resolve this we would need to know what the ?? mean.

Hmm, found something similar at https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=534130 which appears to have been resolved there though. But well, your report is somewhat similar so I think there is still another bug present. But first things first, are you using PulseAudio or ALSA?
Only Alsa : I have only "alsa" flag and when I want to emerge pulseaudio, portage says all packages are new. Now, I'm suffering this bug only on Avidemux. I can play anything using VLC or Audacity or doing some editing with Cinelerra w/o trouble at all. And it's 100% reproducible in Avidemux.
You will probably want to take this to the ALSA bug tracker (https://bugtrack.alsa-project.org/alsa-bug/) such that they can determine if this is an ALSA bug or an Avidemux bug; from the nature of the bug, the fault seems to lie with ALSA by a first impression. So, they can help you debug this further and hopefully this results in a fix. There is not much we can do downstream about this. Good luck!
