I am new to gentoo. This problem occurs with a Hardened Gentoo (SELinux) using stage2 (i guess my 266 would take too much time to compile). When making the first emerge system, this fail on iptables, when looking for /usr/src/linux It seems normal, as kernel has not been emerged, so i guess something is wrong in the scripts... By the way, emerge --resume --skip-first passes through the problem and makes it minor, as iptables should compile afterwards (i cannot guarantie, as the system is still compiling, thanx ssh ;) ) Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Take a new hardened gentoo livecd 2.Take a stage2 (stage2-x86-selinux-20040211), a lot of coffee 3.emerge system ... and wait for iptables Actual Results: By the way, if iptables cannot compile without kernel, it should not be installed before kernel... But replying for the answer, it should compile with no error, and no surprise when coming back on the morning Expected Results: /usr/src/linux symlink not found iptables failed, and so the emerge system with it
If emerge system breaks you can download the kernel you want and then continue the emerge process. That worked for me. HTH
not a catalyst bug.
iptables removed from system profile for a while
